The dissertation starts from the perspective of division of cultural region which is avital academic issue in archaeological research of Han, tries to utilize typology andcultural elementary analysis as methodologies basing on comprehensive understandingabout material archaeological relics, including city sites, settlement, sites of handicraftindustry, graves and funeral objects, and then explores the deep meaning by historicalliteratures. From methodological perspective, the dissertation breaks barriers of administrativedivision, and positions archaeological materials into the specific administrative division ofHan. Also, the research explores the changes of regional culture by clear comprehensionabout the formation of province and county in Han dynasty. Through introducingspace-time dimension into the research, I build the chronological sequence and the systemof cultural division on the basis of typological analysis on tomb structure and funeralobjects. In this process, I find cultural boundary unlike political boundary is changeableand fluid, and affected by geographic and political elements. With the development of Hansociety and reduction of cultural differences, the influence of political oneness graduallystrengthens. The concept of boundary and related theory provides an insightful perspective andvalid theoretical frame for discussion. Boundary theory reexamines stable and fixedboundary with dynamic view, and emphasizes the interactive relationships among regions. The dissertation presents cultural differences in the context of political oneness in Han bycultural elementary analysis, and finds that the motives are complicated, and emerge fromgeographical, political and cultural factors. As discussions above, the research depicts general view of archaeological culture ofHan in Qingdao area through summarizing and analyzing archaeological relics in Han,especially graves reflecting various cultural features. This is an experimental work whichmay be unsuccessful but meaningful.
