This research is based on the Nanking Massacre story films, and I try to put the films’production mechanism, the content and the cross-cultural communication problem intoa global view to investigate. Through analyzing the relationship between thenationalism, cultural identity and international politics and economy in China since1980s, it is concluded that the geopolitics, national interests and cultural conflict willimpact on the films’ production mechanism, content expression and cross-culturalcommunication.In the first part, I will investigate the three stages of production system of the films: theplanned economy stage, the market-oriented economy stage and the industrial economystage. Along with the economic globalization and the regional integration, it is a hardchallenge to adapt to the cultural shift. Facing to the different outside world, thenationalist consciousness unceasingly has been strengthened in China, and varioussocial trends have emerged. Therefore, the content of the films’ may be inevitablyimpact by those factors. In the second part, I seem the humanistic perspective as the breakthrough point.Through analyzing the violence scene in the films, the way to express humanism andthe method to present the theme, I try to show some differences in the NankingMassacre story films since1980s.In the third part, I want to discuss the Nanking Massacre story films’ overseas issuanceand cross-cultural communication problem. There are two points: one is economicfactor will impact the films’ overseas issuance, the other is cultural differences lead tocultural identity crisis.
