The article mainly discusses about the development of the Spanishpainter Goya’s lifetime styles. According to characteristics of his artdevelopment and his whole life path, we could divide his art styles intothree different stages, early, interim and late stage. His early stage of artstyle used bright colors, they always showed scenes of lively life. At thetime his principal job is to design for the royal tapestry factory. In the wayof choosing themes and expressions, he made a breakthrough over thetraditional ones and their lifeless expressions. He put people from allclasses into one painting, which needed a lot more than courage in such ahierarchy society. In his interim stage, Goya mainly devoted in portrait andprints. In his portrait painting, he showed his emotions and expressed hisdisgust for the hollow royal family in a satirizing way. It initiated adifferent style of royal court portrait. In the late stage, Goya was moreinnovative than ever. And when finally finished the Black Painting, insome ways we could say he started the modern art. After discussed aboutthe art style, we also need to analyze the cause of the period style within aviewpoint of art social history. The social history of art thinks that art is notself-disciplined, but instead, it’s connected with complicated social factors.It includes morality, legal institution, technology, politics, religion andphilosophy. And that is the reason why the development and changes of artis caused by the social development.
