Francisco de Goya lucientes(1746-1828),Spain's greatest artist of the 18 th century, was an accomplished master of art in Spanish and even European art history.Goya had a profound influence on later generations of painting and many fields of art.At the same time,Goya's later works made his important position in Western art history with deep thought and unique artistic language. In Goya's late paintings,it can be said that his whole picture is covered with "black",thus making "black" the main theme of the picture. From which we can feel the works of Goya depicted in the form of confrontation with life: hell and heaven, despair and hope, darkness and light, evil and goodwill.Through the analysis of the "blackness" of late Goya's paintings,I hope to give a brief exposition of the origin, development of the "black" in Goya's late paintings in order to reveal the metaphor behind the "blackness" meaning.
