Industrial civilization is a double-edged sword. On the one hand, we get technology andwealth from it. On the other hand, it puts spiritual shackles upon us, such as instrumentalism,selfishness. To begin with,we can see the core values of the socialist system as manifestation of it at the political level.Second, we can see socialist harmonious culture as manifestation of it at the social level. Third,carrying forward the excellent traditional culture of China can be seen as manifestation of it atthe cultural level. The last, cultural industries can be seen as manifestation of it at the economiclevel. Constructing eco-culture can be able to make the content of the core values of thesocialist system and socialist harmonious culture more abundant. Furthermore, it can also helpto carry forward the excellent traditional culture of China and promotes the innovation ofChina’s cultural industry so as to promote culture of socialism with Chinese characteristics.For development of culture of socialist with Chinese characteristics，there are several basic requirements. First, guiding ideology is Marxism. Second, we have to insist on theserequirements: the unity of inheritance and innovation; the unity of the national character anduniversality; integration of scientific culture and humanistic culture; government guidance andparticipation of people. The saying that construction of eco-culture in China has to fit withdevelopment of culture of socialist with Chinese characteristics means that construction ofeco-culture in China has to fit with the basic requirements of development of culture of socialistwith Chinese characteristics. In this sense, guiding ideology of construction of eco-culture mustbe Marxism. And its basic principles are as follows: the unity of inheritance and innovation; theunity of the national character and universality; integration of scientific culture and humanisticculture; government guidance and participation of people. Naturally, concrete practice ofconstruction of eco-culture has to insist on Marxism and these basic principles above.
