Stan Lai is the representative of Taiwan’s drama. He is known as "the creator of the modern theatre in Taiwan","the best theater director of Asia". He attracts audience into the theater with strong creative and gives a new life to the theater of Taiwan. PW which theatre workshop he founded also become one of the core troupes of Taiwan’s performing arts development. He combines fine art and popular art together successfully.the critique of the language and sadness or happiness of the style in his theater, providing thoughtful and ridicule, that make person produce a profound reflection of the spirit with the laughter and tears.Stan Lai created a vastly depth, thickness and height of the theatre of Taiwan culture, shaping a new market, new audiences, and even new culture creative industry. By contrast, Meng jinghui, Tian qinxin, Henian who represent the director of mainland drama market, comparing with early in this century has been a big improvement, but the market scope is relatively limited, excellent drama script is much less than the period of Lao she. Therefore, my thesis wants to combine the drama of Stan Lai and creative learning, and then divide into three levels to analysis Stan Lai drama, what are the creative elements of Stan Lai’s drama work and his methods of director. At the same time, explore the value of Stan Lai’s drama and what a reference of his drama to the drama of the mainland. This thesis consists of three parts. The first chapter introduces Stan Lai’s drama work and analyzes his art ideas and creative stage in detail, including the form of original works. Crosstalk drama is Stan Lai’s original operas; so far, Stan Lai has7crosstalk dramas. The creativity of drama combined with crosstalk continues to continue and has affected the mainland’s theatre.This is Stan Lai’s outstanding contribution to drama and traditional art. Combining drama and a variety of art forms at the same time, he achieves a variety of art aesthetic; it shows that Stan Lai is attempting to explore the revival of traditional art forms and the nationalization of the drama. At the same time, Stan Lai bold blend in Buddhism philosophy works creation that eager to make the theatre can deal with heart problem. In the era of more and more material and entertainment, Stan Lai’s works are more leaning to "inside", he pays attention to person’s inner world and reflects the strong humanistic concern. Then, for the performance on the stage, he created the 360-degree circular theatre, which becoming the original stage space. The second chapter focuses on discussing how Stan Lai to write his drama.he develops the improvisation of Shireen Strooker and advocates the method of using the "truth" to write the drama, letting the truth talk about the story of itself shows the inheritance of Stanislavski, however,we can also see Stan Lai’s own unique creation in this process."Stan Lai tracking map" which he creates and the method of seeking drama structure in the music all reflect his personal characteristics. The third chapter is mainly about the value of Stan Lai’s drama and his significance to the drama of mainland.Stan Lai creates his drama is not just for new and original, but he fuses his creative concepts into artistic expressions. According to analyze his drama and creative practice,we can view the spirit of criticism and self-examination concealed in his creativity and sense of humor.His drama reflects real life with simple and realistic feeling,what’s more,it excavates mental power of drama continuously. All those are the spiritual value of his drama, and also they have edification significance to drama of mainland.
