The purpose of this paper is to explore the connotation and difficult problem of Hsun-Tzu theory of evil human nature.Hsun-Tzu’s theory of evil human nature was formed under the background of human nature debate in the warring states period. Hsun-Tzu emphasized natural equality of all men, pay attention to the practice of the day after tomorrow。It’s absorption of the predecessors’ achievements. Hsun-Tzu feels the theory of original goodness of human nature is unpractical, so he puts forward another theory.Hsun-Tzu affirmed the possibility that a bad man can be cultivated into a good one under the condition of external moral norms.This view is innovation of predecessors’achievements.The state of nature for Hsun-Tzu is a condition of conflict and war.People’s behavior was driven by the people’s desire, which has violated the social morality. Therefore, Hsun-Tzu thought evil is rooted in people’s desire. Although Hsun-Tzu thought the human nature is evil, but did not mean that the essence of man is evil.Hsun-Tzu also didn’t say people may be only to evil. Hsun-Tzu thought that humanity can change by the rational choice and the efforts of the day after tomorrow.People can change the evil nature, eventually leading to the good.Good is the essence of human attributes. Hsun-Tzu put forward the theory of evil is aimed at warnning people:Do not obey the natural development of human nature! Try to turn evil from good!The problem for Hsun-Tzu’s theory of human nature is the origin of the good? In Hsun-Tzu’s view, the origin of the good is the origin of ritual meanings. The former king made the rules. Saint king changes in the process of human nature: first,The king can distinguish good and evil; Second,Saint king love the same kind, this prompted the king choose good. Saint make the rules of external based on two things:first, To imitate the natural order; second, examine the actual human feelings.
