The latter half of the21st century is an era of rapid development. It is an era when the competition between countries on the extent and speed of development is not only about the hard power as political, economic, military powers, but more importantly related to the cultural soft power which has become a significant assessment of one’s comprehensive national strength and overall strength. In order to continually improve China’s international status and maintain our competitiveness, we need to build hard powers and more importantly and urgently to promote the cultural soft power. The cultural soft power is a sum of vitality, innovation, cohesion and communication power as well as the influences arising from them which all can find their basis on the local culture of the country or the region. It mainly comprises aspects as the conservation and spread of Chinese traditional history and culture, the continuously improvement of Chinese development model, the formation and recognition of Chinese national ideology and the building and maintaining of good international image. Presently, a lot of improvements have been done on the promotion of cultural soft power; but still we need to do more and better on other aspects. In this paper, the author is by making a comprehensive analysis of the current development of domestic and foreign cultures to point out the necessity to enhance the cultural soft power and the ways on how to improve the country’s cultural soft power, as well as the analysis of the path to it.
