The awareness of suffering, having its root deep in Chinese People’s centuries-old history, which contains important thoughts of philosophy, is our precious heritage of Chinese traditional culture. Ancient Chinese philosophers argued that it is nothing but sufferings free people from changeless old life styles, and model people’s enterprise and toleration, accordingly established awareness of suffering as one of Chinese People’s spiritual mainstays. Although Confucianism who advocated civilization of rituals and music, and Daoism who admires the values of "nature"(ziran) have different ideas about the future of the Nation and the People as well as the fate of human’s living, they are both possessed of the awareness of suffering, which brings similar effects, and moreover, just makes the communication and the complementation between the Confucianism and the Daoism possible. In addition, the worry about human’s civilization and future from Laozi and Zhuangzi, who called human being’s nature, claimed naturalism and criticized dissimilation of civilization, can be a new way to think about our contemporary problems.
