As one important part of human production and means of subsistence, the artifactual houses, whose function is providing sufficient and inhabitable space to meet the needs of people’s living as well as producing activities, are one of the elements that constitute a complete settlement. Due to the wide using and large construction quantities, the housing construction needs huge amounts of manpower and resource investment with many fields of technical support. Therefore, it is such a focalization reflecting the level of social productivity and the changes of man-land relationship that becomes the essential metetials to study the ancient technology development.According to the data of discoverable and excavated housing relics in WeiShui Valley in prehistoric period, this paper firstly classifies the housing relics by architectural form, then sums up the temporal changes and spatial distribution difference of different forms.On this basis, we can analyze the development of architectural technology by means of the variance of architectural forms, discuss the evolution of the building materials and constructing methods of different housing types, aiming at reasing out the whole development of architectural technology in prehistoric period at WeiShui Valley.At last, we discuss some relative issures, including the motives of architectural technology development, the vicissitude of man-land relationship, as well as the status and impaction in the evolution of Chinese traditional architecture.
