French composer Charles Camille Saint-Sa ns(October9,1835-1921in December16),is a famous French pianist, organist virtuoso, and one representative of neoclassicalmusic in the nineteenth-century European Romantic period. In addition, he is one of thefounders of the French National Music Association. His hundreds of musical works involvealmost every field of music; thus he is called a rare musical prodigy in the nineteenth-centuryEurope. The musical ideas his musical works reflected also promoted the “neoclassical style”,and laid the foundation for development in the21st century.This thesis is divided into three parts. The first part is the music of Saint-Sa ns. In thewar-torn era, Saint-Sa ns emerged a different style of popular music. This musical style-neoclassical was gradually sought after by many musicians. The music Saint-Sa ns pursuingincludes not only French traditional music, which has a beautiful melody, simple lines andneat orchestration, but is also affected by the burgeoning of neo-classical music. As one of thefounders of the Association of folk music, Saint-Sa ns makes great contribution to theappearing of Romanticism, Impressionism and other new forms of musical genres. At thesame time, holding the view of eclectic music, he absorbs different styles of music for avariety of the Romantic period between the late nineteenth century and the early twentiethcentury. The second part outlines the development of the piano etudes. It includes the pianoetude’s appearance, every stage of its development, and the6of Saint-Sa ns concert etudeOP.52, which would be analyzed in this paper. Besides the analysis of the development ofmusical language and its structure, Saint-Sa ns makes expression to the music styles. Thethird part is the influences of the6of Saint-Sa ns concert etude OP.52. The topic ofinfluences couldn’t be avoided if people intend to put to use. The influence of music isenormous. The relation of music and language, music and painting, music and architecture isworth thinking about by people.
