Fang Dongmei Original Interpretation Of The Concept Of Time And Space And Taoism

This paper mainly discusses Fang Dongmei’s conception about the time-space thought of the original Confucianism. With the help of Spengler, Fang Dongmei criticized the time-space view of ancient Greece and modern Europe, and took it as an opportunity to explain China’s original Confucianism time-space view. Fang Dongmei thought that the universe of ancient Greece was limited, the universe of modern Europe was an infinite system, and that the universe of China was the cosmos whose constitution was limited while the the potential use was infinite. On this basis, he launched on the analysis of the time-space view of the original Confucianism. He thought the Book of History of the original Confucian, which said about five lines and the matching of the four runs, and the emperor extremely represents eternal concept of time played a decisive role in the later culture development of China. The concept of time in the Book of Changes was the one Chinese cannot go against. He thought the original Taoism was different from the original Confucianism, so he called the primitive daoist astronauts. The different concepts of space and time contributed to the richness of Chinese art. He thought the art influenced by the Confucian concept of time and space mainly presented the value of good, and affected by the primitive daoist time-space mainly embodied in the side of beauty. Similarly, people who held the two different concepts of time and space were also full of different life emotional appeal. Therefore, the Confucian formed gentleman personality, while Taoism formed detachment personality. We thought the time-space view of the original Confucianism of Fang Dongmei and his discoure about aesthetic perception and life emotional appeal was not comprehensive, and there was also a certain deviation.
