Lu Jiuyuan is the pioneer of the Lu-Wan School. Because of his unique academicstyle, his mind philosophy is labeled Zen Buddhism. Before that, with the conflict andfusion between Buddhism and the native Chinese culture, Huineng completed thereconstruction of Buddhism Chinization, and created the unique Chinese Zen Buddhism.Lu Jiuyuan’s mind philosophy and Zen were both formed under the background of thefusion of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism, their both tenet is “mind”. Therefore, toclarify the relationship between the two is one focus of attention of ancient and modernscholars. By comparing Lu jiuyuan’s mind and Zen from the aspects of theory origin,ontology, epistemology, theory of human nature and the theory of Kung fu, this paper istrying to reveal the similarity and independence of this two Ideologies.
