Around the founding of PRC, the relationship between America and CCP changeddeeply and complicatedly. During the world war Ⅱ, they were partners against Japan. Butwith the change they turned to confronting against each other even in the Korean War. Therewere many causes. This article will choose decision maker as a level to explain the changes.As we know Mao Zedong was the top leader and main decision maker in China and he playeda very important role in bilateral relationship. So this article mainly discusses how MaoZedong impacts the Sino-US relations. The main venation of this article is that Mao Zedonghad very special thoughts on things and these thoughts impacted his perceptions on America,his perceptions on America affected his decision making on Sino-US relations. The firstchapter describes four characteristics of Mao Zedong’s thoughts. They are thinking ofrevolution, crisis awareness, practical and realistic attitude and emphasizing will. The secondchapter analyses the perceptions of Mao Zedong on America to find his basic views onAmerica. The third chapter analyses how the perceptions and views affect Mao’s decision. Atlast the conclusion is that Mao’s thoughts and views impacted the Sino-US relations andchanged the tendency.
