The paper is a study on the social function of the Women’s Federation under the view of sociology.In China, mass social organizations plays an important and special role, its emergence anddevelopment has far-reaching social implications, Women’s Federation, as an important one in the massorganizations and in women’s organizations in China, is undoubtedly one of the most authoritative. Thewomen’s Federation not only plays the role of the bridge and link between the party and the masses ofwomen contact, a national service for the masses, but also plays a support and maintenance for thenational political, economic and social stability and development. Since its foundation in1940s, TheWomen’s Federation has60years history, the paper, hereby, will discuss: what’s the Women’sFederation’s social function; how the Women’s Federation’s social function achieved; Is there anyalteration or changing of the social function and if yes what’s the tends?It is a qualitative research, take S province as an example, it analyze the work of the Women’sFederation during1986-2005. Firstly, the paper statistic and analyze the important things during thisperiod; secondly, take S province Women’s Federation’s law-popularize-work as an example, analyzethe contends on the base of relative materials; finally, on the base of existing analyzing, the paper probethe relative subjects of the Women’s Federation social function in S province.We can get the following conclusions by a series of studying on the Women’s Federation in Sprovince on the subjects of the Women’s Federation social function.1stly, due to the history and existing elements, the Women’s Federation social function is mainlyreflected in the proposing of the party and country, organization of the women’s work, and representingof the women’s rights.2edly, due to the Women’s Federation’s special character, it will confront the relationship-tacklingwith the Party the state and the society inevitably, which is intently interrelated with its existing anddeveloping.3rdly, due to the great change of the political system social environment and interest pattern astime goes by, the Women’s Federation’s social function has changed relatively. And it mainly shows thefollowing tends: independent to cooperation, proposing to acting, universal to specialization, andadministration to socialization.
