Due to the fact that the protection of current news is not included in the copyrightlaw or other related laws, and its related concept is not clearly defined, a heated debateon whether news reports are entitled to copyright comes up. Here are the twobackgrounds of current affairs, one is the rapid development of the internet industry andthe high popularity of internet news; the other is the common use of internet news videowithout permission. Since the diversified characteristics and serious violations ofinternet news video, it is more worth discussing on copyright, compared to news articleand news picture. The protection of internet news video in copyright law or otherrelated laws are researched and discussed, and it is expected to push legislation andguide practice.The main part of this thesis is composed of the introduction, body text andconclusion. In section “Introduction”, current internet environment and internet newsprotection are simply explained. The central idea of the thesis–the protection ofinternet news video copyright, is also put forward. The body text contains four parts:overview on protection of the internet news video copyright, the basis of protection bythe copyright law, the infringement judgment and the legal remedies. In section“Conclusion”, the author’s opinion is reclaimed to make the thesis more explicit andaccessible.Chapter I mainly introduces the concepts related to internet news video and thetypes of internet news video, the controversy on whether news video is to be entitled tocopyright among theory circle, and the legislative status of Internet news video invarious countries. Chapter II discusses the theoretical and practical basis of copyrightprotection of internet news video respectively; result in a more detailed argument.Chapter III explains the constituent elements and manifestations of the copyrightinfringement on internet news video, in order to point out which behaviors haveinfringed or may infringe the copyright of internet news video. The legal solutions forthe copyright infringement of internet news video are put forward in chapter IV. Itmainly discusses the fair use of copyright, the neighboring rights of copyright, and otherpossible legal remedies, including improvements, additions of the copyright law orother related laws, specialized and systematic legislation of news, the remedy ofanti-unfair competition law etc..
