The United States of America,as the only super power in the world, has beenintegrating with the other nations through political, economical and culturalcommunications in the course of globalization. During the very process, various kindsof national interests of US call for diplomatic corps in the State Department stationedabroad to safeguard and promote the national interests overseas, to enhance themutual understanding and friendship between US and other nations, to offer consularservice to overseas Americans,etc. According to the publicized statistics from theState Department, about11,500foreign service officers are stationed in the USembassies and consulates in other countries for national interests. The managementand administration of the US diplomatic corps need efficient and proper institutionsand regulations. The thesis focuses on the very institutions and regulations to providea panoramic view on the management and institutions of US foreign service overseas,which we might learn from to adjust the counterparts in foreign service managementof China.
