Research Against "Taiwan Independence" Separatist Activities Since The New Century Struggle Of The Chinese Communist Party

The "Taiwan independence" separatist activities are not only a major obstacle in solving the Taiwan issue and realizing national reunification of China, but also a key factor that threatening the international environment surrounding China, which is a threat to China’s development.Since the new century, especially during the period of2000to2008, by taking advantage of power, the Democratic Progressive Party promoted the "Taiwan independence" separatist activities. A series of campaigns of "creeping independence" such as "one country on each side" and steps of "radical independence" such as "de jure independence" broke out; Cross-strait exchanges and cooperation were blocked and wrecked--the "Taiwan independence" separatist activities under the leading of the Democratic Progressive Party were pushed to an all-time high level. Since2008, the Democratic Progressive Party and the "Taiwan independence" forces have declined, but the "Taiwan independence" separatist speech and activities which bring damage to the cooperation and development to both sides of Taiwan Strait, to regional peace and to the reunification of China are still coming out. In view of the "Taiwan independence" activities since the new century, the Communist Party of China carried out resolute struggles. This article sums up the characteristics of the "Taiwan independence" separatist activities, researches the struggles of the Communist Party of China against the "Taiwan independence" separatist activities since the new century to conclude its experience, which can submit suggestions or plans for further struggles against the "Taiwan independence" separatist activities.This paper is divided into three parts except the introduction. The first part sums up the main events and characteristics of the "Taiwan independence" separatist speech and activities since the new century. Since the new century, the "Taiwan independence" separatist activities as a whole experienced a development process from "gradual" to "radical", and then from "radical" to "decay". After Chen shui-bian held in power in2000, he carefully built the "creeping independence" by denying the "92consensus" and by steps of "desinicization" in the field of culture, education and society. Later, Chen and the Democratic Progressive Party began to aggressively promote the "radical Taiwan independence", such as "de jure Taiwan independence", etc. After2008, the "Taiwan independence" activities, dominated by the Democratic Progressive Party, are mainly focused on blocking and damaging the relations across Taiwan Strait. The "radical Taiwan independence" has declined compared with before. The second part analyzes the struggles of The Communist Party of China against the "Taiwan independence" separatist activities since the new century. To curb the "Taiwan independence" separatist activities and maintain peace, the Communist Party of China carried out resolute struggles against the "creeping" and "radical Taiwan independence" separatist activities dominated by the Democratic Progressive Party. To enhance the cross-straits relations, The Communist Party of China actively promotes exchanges and cooperation in economic, cultural and political fields. The third part mainly sums up the experience of the Communist Party of China in fighting against the "Taiwan independence" separatist activities since the new century. On the foundation of researching the struggles against the "Taiwan independence" separatist activities in the second part, the third part of this paper concludes the main experience of the struggles of the Communist Party of China against "Taiwan independence". The "One China principle" and "92consensus" are powerful weapons,"Placing hopes on the people of Taiwan" and promoting the cross-strait exchanges and cooperation are key points to curb the "Taiwan independence" separatist activities, the United States is an important factor to draw on in curbing the "Taiwan independence" separatist activities, and a strong country is a powerful backing for struggles against the "Taiwan independence" separatist activities.
