A Study On The International Law Of Resisting Invasive Alien Species

At present, with the development of marine transportation and international trade, international communication has become frequent People bring marine alien species into the local area through their activities, intentionally or unintentionally. This has created the problem of marine invasive alien species, and it becomes more and more serious. Moreover it has evolved into a global environmental problem. The invasion of marine alien species has brought serious damages on the marine environment, human health and the international economy. This problem has caused extensive attention of the international community, and the related international law for the prevention and control has been introduced. But at present, there are some shortages in the relevant international law, and it is not enough to cope with the more serious situation. So it is necessary to perfect the laws.Apart from the preface and the conclusion, this article is divided into four chapters:Chapter One, based on the clarification of terms related with alien species and alien invasive species, introduces the definition of marine invasive alien species, the current situation, the damage and the urgency of the prevention and control.Chapter Two introduces the current international legislation on marine invasive alien species, and respectively analyzes the binding and non-binding international legal documents.Chapter Three points out the problems of current international laws on the prevention and control of marine invasive alien species on the basis of comprehensive analysis of Chapter Two. Chapter Four thinks about the current situation, and put forward some proposals for perfecting the relevant legislation of marine invasive alien species on the basis of Chapter Three.
