Prostitution is one of the oldest professions, it arose simultaneously with the urban civilization. There had been large numbers of prostitute in ancient Greek as well as ancient Rome. Just like other occupations in urban areas, prostitution had been professionalism with the development of social economy. it stemmed from the age of communal marriage, firstly was the sacrifice made by women to ransom their chastity, the money made from it was owned by the temple, which then was a religious conduct. Afterwards, the prostitution has been spread up to now as the deviant of monogyny. The prostitute group living on the streets has been disputable in the European history, so that they have drawn the attention of numerous historians thinkers theologians artists as well as writers.As a social phenomenon, the appearance of prostitution must have certain route, meanwhile, it is inevitably restrained by elements such as economy population policy and belief. Consequently it also has some influence on aspects of society. The paper will date back to the condition of prostitution in the late medieval ages and the early modern society, pitching in by that, we can uncover some social facts analyze the factors affecting the living condition of prostitutes as well as explain some social phenomenon. This paper is made up of three parts:introduction, text and conclusion. The introduction mainly states the reasons and significance of choosing this topic and current research condition of it. The text is composed of three chapters. Chapter one mainly analyses the reasons of its appearance, including the causes occupations and the fundamental condition of prostitute in brother. Chapter two mainly states the institutionalization of prostitution during the late medieval ages. Section one introduces the social condition before the institutionalization of prostitution. Section two presents the circumstance of prostitution legalization. Section three elaborates the social foundation on why a large number of prostitutes exist and the attitude people towards them. In chapter three, the legal environment of prostitute, the principles of spiritual court and secular court about prostitutes are presented. The conclusions are proposed in the chapter four, which analyzes the tendency of prostitute group and the social introspection from this.
