Tocqueville is a great nineteenth-century political thinker, in his early politicalcareer, a detailed investigation by the United States went to nine months, the authorwrote "The American Democracy." After a study of the life of the old regime of theFrench Revolution, wrote "Old Regime and the French Revolution." Tocqueville is inthe transition from a traditional society to a democratic society, he believesdemocracy will win the final victory, but also clearly recognize that democracy alsohas various crises, even dangerous, authoritarian. So, how to guide a democratic andhealthy development is committed to becoming Tocqueville thought.Tocqueville is keen to see the two faces democratic weal and woe, urged peopleto remain "a healthy fear of democracy". In his view, democracy is a double-edgedsword: enthusiasm can make the whole society with persistent, retains the vitality ofdemocracy; and excessive or insufficient makes democracy into tyranny. If theDemocratic instincts uncontrolled, democracy may also self inflicted injury. Freedomand equality is not always directly proportional relationship; beyond a certain limit,the principle of equality is not enough to ensure that the democratic political activity,but to destroy the free decay and unchangeable principle. Therefore, democracy cannot be at the expense of freedom, equality and freedom should be racing togetherbridle to bridle.This paper attempts to combine the historical background of Tocqueville toillustrate his ideas of democracy crisis. The introduction part of the analysis ofTocqueville political thought research current situation, research significance andresearch method. The first part describes the analysis as a political thinker Alexis deTocqueville political career, he lived through the era background and his theory of theorigin of the introduction of democratic ideas, sketched out it form Tocquevilledemocracy. The second part of the democratic crisis generated by analyzing thecauses and manifestations of democracy crisis, discussed the crisis of democracyTocqueville understanding. The third part describes the measures to solve thedemocracy crisis. The fourth part of the evaluation and limitations of rationaldemocratic crisis about Tocqueville thought. Section V discusses the concept ofrevelation Tocqueville Democracy construction and development of our democracy,in order to provide reference for the building of democracy for China.
