With the continuous development of globalization, immigration has become very popular as a social phenomenon in the world. Australia is a immigration country, it not only has a traditional relationship with the Europe and America, but also profoundly intertwines with Asia, especially Southeast Asia countries, on account of being located in the Asia-pacific region geographically. As the third-largest immigrant group, Chinese Australian own the strong economic strength and a large number of high-level talents, and make contributions to pursue of multicultural policy and social development for Australia. Politics is the concentrated expression of economics, at the same time, political participation is an important symbol of Chinese Australia social status. This paper study Chinese Australian with describing and analyzing the political participation of contemporary Chinese Australian.Migrating to Australia from China has been a long and tortuous process, Chapter One mainly discusses the change in population structure and fundamental social characteristic of Chinese Australian immigrant group, which is made by massive Chinese migrated from Hong Kong and southeast Asia after the collapse of the White Australia policy and the implementation of multi-ethnic and multicultural policy in1972, and discusses the positive impact on Sino-Australian relations made by the participation in politics of Chinese Australian from economic, cultural and political aspects; and migrated from mainland China after the reform and opening up of China; Chapter Two classifies Chinese Australian into three groups, the Chinese elites, the Ordinary Chinese and the Chinese organizations, respectively discusses the method and analyses the characteristic of their participation in politics;Chapter Three according to the above research and the personal experience of author, points out the deficiencies and obstacles which exists in the participation of current Chinese Australian in politics; Chapter Four puts forward corresponding suggestions aiming at the deficiencies and obstacles which exist in the political participation of Chinese Australian.In general, ethnic population, education level and social economic status is directly proportional to their political participation level. This paper attempts to regard Chinese Australian political participation as an important expression form highlighting the change of Chinese social status, regards the population change, residential distribution, education level and career choices as the key factors influencing contemporary Chinese Australian to take part in politics, discusses the method and characteristic of the political participation of different group, and which mainly focus on Chinese elites, as a group, they can highly embody the development of Chinese political participation. At the same time, explores the special influence on maintaining of Chinese rights and interests, fully integration into the local society and promotion of the Sino-Australian close relations.This paper argues that Chinese immigrants is an important group of Australia which can not be ignored. under the racial discrimination and prejudice which exists explicitly or hidden in Australian society, how Chinese eliminates the deficiencies and obstacles in current political participation, and develops Chinese Australian political participation to a new level, is the purpose of this study. Looking forward to the future, Chinese political participation in Australian has a wide prospect.
