Chinese Australian is the important minority ethnic of Australia, who has a long historyof immigration to Australia, which can be dated from the1840s. They made a greatcontribution to the development of Australia. But prior to the1970s. Chinese Australianalmost had no chance to participate in Australia politics because of the serious ethnicdiscrimination. Since the1970s, with the abolishment of "White Australia"policy andimplementation of Multi-Culture policy, The social environment of Chinese Australian’spolitical participation gradually became more loose, some out-standing Chinese Australianstake top positions in Australia goverment, The thesis aim at studying Chinese Australians’participation in Australia’s politics since the1970s, analysing the achievement and problems ofChinese Australian political participation and reasons accounted for it.This paper’s first chapter reviews Chinese Australian politic life prior to the1970s, theachievement of Chinese Australian political participation since the1970s. Second chapteranalyses Chinese Australian elites involved in Australia politics. Third chapter studies factorswhich are helpful for Chinese Australian’s political participation, Fourth chapter explores thecharacteristic and positive influence of Chinese Australian political participation, existingproblems.This study finds that Chinese Australian’s political participation since1970s made a greatprogress, the ability of political participation improved greatly, which is helpful andmeaningful for the survival and development of Chinese Australian. However, it also existssome deficiencies, which influences the further development of Chinese Australians’ politicalparticipation and need to be solved by all of Chinese Australians.
