During the Cold War, for the sake of its own strategic interests in the ideological field, the United States conducted a propaganda war against the Eastern European countries. In the propaganda war, what is worth noting is the Radio Free Europe, which is established by private organization and sector. The cold war situation is extraordinarily tense in the1950s, during which period many activities are carried out by Radio Free Europe on some significant changes within Eastern Europe countries, and what a role played in mental collapse of Eastern Europe, is the main focus of this paper concerns. This thesis paper mainly focus on the propaganda activities which have been carried out by Radio Free Europe during the period of1950s when the cold war situation is extraordinarily tense and the significant changes that took place within Eastern Europe countries and the great role it has played in collapsing Eastern Europe from the psychological perspective.This paper is divided into three parts:introduction, body and conclusion.The introduction part introduces the origin and meaning of the thesis, systematically organizes the research situation on this issue of home and abroad, and explains the ideas and research methods of the paper.The body of the paper is divided into four chapters, which are as follows:The first chapter analyzes the background of the establishment of Radio Free Europe, the nature and purpose of the activities, personnel status, roughly combed the relationships between Radio Free Europe and Free Europe committee, the Voice of America radio and the Central Intelligence Agency.The second chapter lists the fact that the U.S. government carried out the "Campaign of Truth" and "Crusade for Freedom" against Radio Free Europe during the period of1950s when the Cold War was in full swing, the measures which the U.S. government has taken for the psychological advocacy level strategies.The third chapter is about programming and broadcasting strategy of Radio Free Europe, aiming to check its propaganda effect by the U.S. government. It also analyzes the measures which the Soviet Union has adopted to interfere radio signals and the anti-interference action that the U.S. has taken, as well as the Radio Free Europe itself. For instance, the balloon propaganda movement.The fourth chapter discusses the role of Radio Free Europe in the series of unrest incidents occurred in the1950s in Eastern Europe, mainly emphasizing on the role played by radio events in East Germany of1953, the1956event in Poland and Hungary.The final epilogue summarizes the conclusions of this paper, through a series of Radio Free Europe radio station, Seeing a glimpse of the United States during the Cold War propaganda strategy throughout the Cold War against the Eastern European countries, guiding us how to prevent malicious propaganda of hostile countries and stir up trouble and exclude the interference of various erroneous ideas in the world of information and globalization which is full of numerous media means.
