My thesis use the historical observational approach, according to the evolution of the USA-Russia relationship, its features and reasons, systematically analyzed the effects of the events' in South Ossetia. Then my thesis analyzed the status of the USA-Russia relation, and predicted the future trend of their relationship. In recent years, the contends between USA and Russia include the affairs of NATO's eastward expansion, missile defense system in Eastern Europe, Iran's nuclear issue, new clear non-proliferation, energetic strategies, arms races, color revolutions in Central Asia, CIS governance and so forth. All the above affairs showed that USA and Russia's interactive mold has changed from both struggle and cooperation to " deepen the fissure, strengthen the confrontation, restrict the cooperation". The event of South Ossetia is an important strategic turning point in the history of USA-Russia relationship. It has become a signal of the new trend of USA-Russia relationship. After this event, both USA and Russia's strategic intentions become clearer; their tactic layouts become more targeted, their strategy implementation become more aggressive, and the relations return to be more essential. USA and Russia adjusted their foreign policies separately, the mutual-relations experienced a process of from heated confrontations to easing tendencies. However, there still have many limiting factors which make the USA-Russia relations changing from the time. The fundamental factors of the changing relations are the structural contradictions between the two countries. For instances:USA-led western countries promote the strategies which are contradicted with Russia's foreign developing strategy, the contradictions in developing mode and ideology values, the international political economic changes' effects, and so forth. Because the objective conditions of cold war in modern international political system is no longer exists, and both USA and Russia try to avoid return to the cold war era, the possibility of the neo-cold war is quite small. However, because of mutual-need and mutual-dependence, although USA-Russia relations have the features of limitations and moderate counterbalance, the two countries still managed to maintain a fragile state of peace.
