Criticism and self-criticism, as one of the styles of CPC, was formed in the long and hard struggle style construction environment. In September2009, Xi Jinping, the general secretary, when guided the democratic life of Hebei Provincial Committee team, stresses:"insist on using the weapons of criticism and self-criticism, and improve the leadership ability to solve their own problems." Criticism and self-criticism of CPC ideology, as a theoretical weapon for the party seeking to resolve conflicts and solve problems within the party approaches, is not only the theory need to expand, but also the strong calling for social practice. In recent years, the academic research on criticism and self-criticism of the Chinese Communist Party has made great progress. However, the study of how to enhance the criticism and self-criticism and the value of the contemporary criticism and self-criticism need further study. In this article, firstly, the related concepts about criticism and self-criticism are defined and the research status of criticism and self-criticism. This is sorted out at home and abroad. Then, it is explained about the necessity and possibility of the Communist Party of China to carry out criticism and self-criticism from three aspects, including the theoretical basis, the origin and development of the cultural history. Once again, the main contents of criticism and self-criticism are summarized, involving the purpose of criticism and self-criticism, functions, principles, methods and attitudes. Then, the theoretical values of criticism and self-criticism at this moment are pointed out, which enrich and develop Marxism ideological criticism and self-criticism, and further improve the Mao Zedong Thought and the theory of socialism with Chinese characteristics. At last, combining the great challenges of the Communist Party of China faces in the new era, pointing out that criticism and self-criticism is the powerful weapon to consolidate the party’s ruling status, the urgent requirement to carry out the Party’s mass line practice activities, the effective way to keep party’s progressiveness, the objective requirement of democratic system and the important guarantee to promote harmony inside the party.
