How The Farmers’ Cooperation Be Possible

Farmers’ cooperation as part of their daily routine in rural areas is not only the path to solve the difficulty they or their families are confronted with, but also an important way to involved in public goods supply in the village and maintains the village community. However, with a series of political and economic system reform and the concept of the market economy pumped into the rural society, the original order of the traditional rural society is broken, each farmer becoming less and less dependent on and identify with the village."Accounts must be clearly even between blood brothers" and "minding only their own business, regardless others are on the cream tile" becoming an article of faith of farmers gradually. Mutual assistance between individual farmers is becoming less and less in the village while rational calculation is becomes a creed. Cooperation among farmers is becoming increasingly difficult in rural society, the difficulty in supplying of public goods and the poor state of the public facilities are common.This article is based on empirical research and use the cooperation in road repairing of W Village in Z Town in western Hubei province as a typical case. In this paper I detailed described the process of the twice cooperation in the village and analyzed the opposite result of two roads. How the cooperation can from confrontation to cooperation, from failure to succession? On this base, I also expounded the current situation of rural society and combined with the internal and external factors that affect farmer cooperative analyzed the possible conditions that can promote the cooperation between farmers under the current condition. The author thinks that, under the current situation that farmers cooperation becoming more and more difficult, only rely on the force of market, government, farmer organization or the inner strength to realize the cooperation between farmers is almost impossible. We need to with the help of the resultant force of the three factors and establish an effective cooperation mechanism to eventually achieve the cooperation between farmers.The innovations of this paper are as follows:First, this paper abandoned the analysis done on the interpretation of the essence which explained the reasons of poor farmers’ cooperation, but put the problem in a certain social and historical environment to investigate the cause why farmers’ cooperation is difficult. Second, this article will put farmers’cooperative research under the view of perspective of political sociology and it will not only focus on the changes of individuals in the village which combine with the changes of social structure of the village, at the same time, this paper will pay close attention to the indirect influence on individual behaviors by government and market force. Third, this paper uses the storytelling method; through describe the process of the cooperation in village read event in order to analysis the reason why farmers’ cooperation are difficult.
