In the context of economic globalization, the world competition in comprehensive national strength, especially in economic development competition is becoming more intense. While human beings are chasing economic interests constantly, the relationship between man and nature has become increasingly tense. Ecological and environmental problems have become global problems. And serious ecological pollution has becoming a threat to human health. How to improve poor ecological situation efficiently, is the subject which the world are trying to research currently. Of course, China is no exception. The report of the18th party said that, we should promote the political, economic, cultural, social and ecological "five in one" of the building structure vigorously, and strive to build a beautiful China. And the government work report in2014also stressed the need to strengthen the heavy pollution prevention. These embody the party and the government’s emphasis and determination on ecological environment construction work.Mao Zedong is the core of the first generation of Communist Party of China. Although he did not put forward the concept of "ecological civilization" explicitly, did not offer a complete set of ecological system theories. However, in the process that leading the Chinese revolution and construction, he always very concerned about environmental problems. And he also made a series of valuable insights. His ecological construction thoughts are scattered in some of his documents, letters or speeches, which played an important role in guiding ecological construction practice at that time. However, due to the knowledge level limitations, he has gone through a number of detours though the construction. Of course, both his insights and exhortations are very precious for us.This paper studies the personal thoughts of Mao Zedong in ecological construction. The author will elaborate three parts:the source, main content, and the analysis of his ideas. By analyzing its source and content, the author will arrange Mao Zedong’s ecological construction thoughts as a whole. At the same time, the author summarizes the characteristics of his thoughts, combines his ecological thinking and the problems in contemporary ecological civilization construction, and discusses the enlightenment which his thoughts given to the current socialist ecological construction.In summary, ecological construction is an issue which closely related to human survival and developments. In China, at this stage, or even in the next longer period of time, ecological problems are relatively serious. Therefore, in order to achieve the Chinese dream, to build a beautiful China, we must revisit the ecological construction thought of Mao Zedong, drawing the reasonable ingredients and absorbing the remaining lessons, and applied to ecological civilization construction in our country. Then we will be able to build a modern building pattern of harmonious development between the human and nature.
