Patriotism Of Korea

There are four parts in this article except the introduction and the conclusion.The introduction is designed to point out the necessity and feasibility of the study for Korean patriotism.In the first part, we concentrate on giving a general idea of the dimensions of Korean patriotism. It systematically presents the dimensions of Korean patriotism through excavating the patriotism which hides in the National spirit, the national character, the community and the economic life.The second part points out the production of Korean patriotism which mainly displays in three aspects. Firstly, South Korea’s patriotism is based on centuries-old traditional culture which is reflected in the customs and local emotions, national consensus in the Confucian ethics. Secondly, Korea’s patriotism has experienced four historical periods since the modern times just as resistance to Japanese colonial, anti-Communist and nationalist education, and the period of national spirit cultivation and the fusion of multiple values. In different historical periods, patriotism has different connotations, education methods and perspectives. They echo each other at a distance with the spirit of the age. Thirdly, South Korea’s patriotism spirit not only contains the traditional culture, but also has the modern democratic gene which has turned to be the driving force to promoting Korean modernization process.The third part discusses about the cultivation of Korean patriotism. It focuses on elaborating the multiple of diversity values, the distinctive educational framework, and the effective methods of Education which are closed to the actual situation in Korea. The goal of this part is to find out the unique of patriotism education in South Korea.The fourth part points out that South Korea’s patriotism education’s enlightenments for China from the view of critical reflection and absorption. When carry out patriotic education, we should firstly analyze the multiple connotations of patriotism and adhere its ideological connotation, culture connotation, personal development connotation. Only in this way can we realize the multiple functions of patriotism education. It also needs to cultivate rational nation identity as well as culture identity, society identity. Certainly, our aim is to cultivate democratic society builders who arm with high political consciousness and cultural consciousness. In addition, there are a lot of works to do for realizing the practical effects of patriotism education. To complete this goal, we should explore new ideas of patriotism education, highlight the function of moral education, pay attention to training the ability of reflection in history classes and develop the recessive education.The conclusion is to summarize the achievements of Korean patriotism education which are worth learning. In addition, it also reminds us to carry out patriotism education according to the actual situation in our Country when cultivating rational patriots.
