Philosopher Morgan once said,"In a civilized nation in the form of a man and a woman living with the pair, this is not the General, but like all great feelings and strength of soul, is generated by the experience." Since ancient times, how many men and women worry themselves silly over their marriage. However, this world is changing all the time, with the times and social change, people worry about different aspects of their marriage. In ancient times, verse said "Older women who are unmarried will utter cries of anguish" in our country. In modern times, in parts of Europe, there has been a lot of women prefers to be single because they can’t find good husband. Enter latter-day, older single women has gradually formed a large group, more and more women delay to get marry, even not marry. Now, on one side is the "be single", one side is the "want to marry so much". For groups, different single women’s attitudes toward marriage may be different. For individuals, their attitudes toward marriage may be complex, even contrary. My mentor Professor Gao Zhimin has proposed the adult education concept of "return to adults’rich living world, come into adults’ colorful spirit home", which call for caring for the survival status and spiritual needs of various adult groups. Under this guideline, this research focuses on the study of attitudes toward marriage of single women in their late20s, tries to find out it’s present cases, features, formation reasons and effects by means of empirical investigation, and searches for positive attitudes toward marriage and life in the perspective of adult self-directed learning. This research contains three sections of theoretical study, empirical study and discussion, with seven chapters:In the section of theoretical study (Chapter1to Chapter3), we will introduce the starting point and research design, define three main concepts and their related concepts of "single women in their late20s","attitudes toward marriage" and "adult self-directed learning", then sort out prevenient researches related to themes of single women in their late20s, attitudes toward marriage and adult self-directed learning, etc, in order to find theoretical fulcrum for this research. In the section of empirical study (Chapter4to Chapter6), we will present the essential information of objects of the questionnaire survey and their present attitudes toward marriage in details, then summed up features, further explore the reasons for the attitudes toward marriage and effects on individuals and the society. At the last we will have a overall analysis of the above, and supplemented by the presentation and analysis of interview survey text.In the section of discussion (Chapter7), we will search for the ways how to change negative attitudes toward marriage to positive and propose effective strategies for the adult self-directed learning in the perspective of adult self-directed learning.
