The textbook is made of text, note, illustration, experiment and exercise. And the exercise is an important part of mathematics textbook. Exercise on the difference in the number of level, style and emphases not only reflect the overall level of a national curriculum, but also have an impact on teaching practice. The characteristic of exercise directly relate to the student experience, mathematical ability and mathematical concept formation. Therefore, based on the New Bloom’s Taxonomy of Cognitive Objective, this thesis takes Junior middle school mathematics textbook as an example, deeply research the exercise in the mathematics textbook, which has important significance to writing high-quality exercise.Five parts in the thesis are listed as follows:Part one:prolegomenon. This part briefly introduces the research reason, research content and research meaning.Part two:literature review. This part mainly review the existing relevant literature at home and abroad, from which I find the research to mathematics textbook exercise in the past mostly stay in areas of the number, the type, the material and the difficulity.Part three:theoretical basis of the study. First, this part introduces the New Bloom’s Taxonomy of Cognitive Objective in detail. Second, overview of its impact in China. Finally, explain the reasons for the author to select the New Bloom’s Taxonomy of Cognitive Objective.Part four:the survey to mathematics textbook exercises under the New Bloom’s Taxonomy of Cognitive Objective. Based on the New Bloom’s Taxonomy of Cognitive Objective, this part establishes specific criteria for exercises are classified, mainly investigates the mathematics textbook exercises, and then makes qualitative analysis to survey results. Part five:research conclusions and recommendations. Based on the investigation, research conclusions are drawn:Number and algebra, space and graphics, statistics and probability in these three areas, the focus of the exercises in the knowledge dimension and the cognitive process dimension is the same; with the higher grade, the exercises reflected in students’ cognitive level is improved; PEP7-9grade math textbook exercises partly reflect the requirements of the third overall goal of the mathematics curriculum; the New Bloom’s Taxonomy of cognitive objective should be slightly modified when it research the mathematics textbook exercises. On this basis, this paper raises some writing recommendations and three suggestions to teachers how to design homework.
