Since education plays a very important role in personal development andeconomic development, education inequality becomes the focus of attention ofacademia and the community. Education inequality includes opportunity-inequality, in-process-inequality and attainment-inequality. Because educationopportunity and investment-in-process affect educational attainment,opportunity-inequality and investment-in-process-inequality will be transferredto attainment-inequality. In our selection mechanism, test score reflects theeducational attainment. Dose household education investment have effect on thechange of children’s test scores? We use data from more than2000samples ofthe five locations to explore the effect of parents’ money and time on theirchildren’s changes in test scores. And we find that money investment, especially the out-of-school investment, and time investment, especially thetime offered actively by parents, indeed have a significant positive effect onchanges in their children’s test scores. And further studies on the differenteffects between school stage and household-income level are also discussed inthis paper.
