Owing to various historical reasons, the Malaysia National Type Chinese Secondary Schools(MNTCSS) have consciously or unconsciously being overlooked by the general public. As aMalaysian Chinese&also having educated under this MNTCSS system, I wish to make an indepth&accurate study on the formation of this system. It is imperative to seriously study&analyses the various historical events prior to Independence of Malaya so that we can present aclearer picture (Past&Present) of this separate branch of the Malaysia Chinese education.Chung Ling High School of Penang was an outstanding model of the Malaysian Chineseeducation even prior to the Independence. Her bilingual teaching system was successful&highly commended. As such, the colonial government then made her the First ’Conforming"Chinese secondary school&used her as the model or blueprint for other subsequentconforming Chinese secondary schools. This thesis, by highlighting the bilingual teaching system of Chung Ling&also the variouspromises of the government when ’conforming’ the many Chinese secondary schools, willanalyses&present to you the present day pictures of the Malaysian Chinese secondary schools.
