Based on the development of Teaching Chinese as second language and anendless stream of Chinese teaching materials, this paper chooses two primary schoolChinese text books overseas-Chinese (for primary school) and Chinese made easy(for kids) for studying. And it sets up a database containing the exercises from gradeone to grade four of these two Chinese teaching materials. In the paper, the authorcomprehensively studies the exercise goal, the exercise style and the exercise quantity.It reviews the research of the other scholars did, and expounds the significance of thisstudy and introduces the research methods of this paper.This paper studies the exercise from six parts, they are pronunciation, Chinesecharacter, vocabulary, sentence, listening and speaking, reading and writing, andpoints out the defects of exercises arrangement through statistic, contrast and analysis.According to the research results, the paper summarize some views about overseasChinese teaching material exercise.First of all, in the exercise goal, Chinese (for primary school) gives a moredetailed description on the goal of language knowledge, its description on the goal oflanguage ability is very simple. Secondly, in the exercise style, Chinese (for primaryschool) pay more attention on the practice of language knowledge. Contrast withChinese (for primary school), Chinese made easy (for kids) has stronger sense oftraining students’ language ability. And then, in the exercise quantity, the total amountof exercise of Chinese (for primary school) is obviously more then Chinese madeeasy (for kids).Lastly the paper put forwards some recommendations on how tocompile suitable exercise for overseas primary student. |
