Most of English learners have difficulties in understanding: How their oralEnglish,? How to practice their oral English? What is the most efficient way? What isthe key point should be? When communicating with others in English, Most Englishlearners have the following problems:1. They have strong accents and obviousChin-English pronunciation and intonation.2。There are basic grammatical mistakesin their oral expression and the structures they use are too simple.3.They could notspeak English fluently and coherently.4. The range of their vocabulary is not largeenough. Although junior middle School English teachers have been teaching English,their English oral Proficiency is not so satisfactory and their oral proficiency and oralEnglish improvement efficiency yet to improve. Aiming at solve this problem, theauthor tempted to find out the correlation between Speaking Strategies and OralProficiency of Junior Middle School English Teachers. Based on this thesis, the paperwas carried out on by the following aspects:The first Part is the Literature Review according to the core definitions of thisthesis such as learning strategies, speaking strategies and oral proficiency. Theadopted Oxford’s(1989) definition and classification of language strategies in thisthesis. After this, the author also tried to give a brief review of language learningstrategies and speaking strategies.In second part the author explain the concrete research procedure. The subject inthis research is68middle school English teachers in Meizhou, Guangdong. Theinstruments are speaking strategies questionnaires and oral proficiency test. All thescored from the questionnaires and test are collected and analyzed by the software SPSS16.0. The objective of this is to answers to the following questions:1. What is the overall pattern of speaking strategies employed by JuniorMiddle School English teachers.2. Is there any difference between proficient and less proficient JuniorMiddle School English teachers in terms of speaking strategies use, if yes,then, is the difference significant?3. How is the correlation between speaking strategies and oral proficiencyof Junior Middle School English teachers.In the third part, he author discuss and explain the result based on the data anddata analysis.In the fourth part, the author gave some implications and applicable suggestions for junior middleschool English teachers to enhance their oral proficiency according to the result of theanalysis and discussion.
