On Qualities Of The President Of Private Colleges And Universities

In the reform and opening up30years later, our modernization keeps makingprogress and great changes have taken place in education from the perspective ofboth scale and quality.All the progress contributes to the great efforts of educationalcommunity. Apart from the development of the public schools, the emergence anddevelopment of private colleges and universities is one of the major factors in thepromotion of education. Therefore, academia have been maintaining a positiveattitude toward the relationship between quality of the president and the reform anddevelopment of private colleges and universities. Because of this, this paper, on thebasis of the position-setting and explanation of the quality of the presidents ofprivate colleges and universities, analyzes specific requirements on the presidents’qualities, including theoretical attainment, strategic thought on the long-termdevelopment of schools, and the scientific development ability. In addition, thequality should include the attitude on the strict management to the universities andthe ability to construct harmonious and humanistic atmosphere of the universities.The paper also analyzes the deficiency of the presidents’quality and its causes, andput forward some suggestions to improve them, including learning foreignadvanced experience, completing the selection system and promotion system, so thatpeople can have a much deeper, more specific knowledge of the qualities of thepresidents of private colleges and universities.
