Chinese martial arts, not only has a long history, extensive knowledge and profoundscholarship, but also has rich traditional Chinese culture. Martial arts, which is atraditional Chinese sport, is one of the colorful pearl in Chinese cultural heritage. It isregarded as a carrier of education and plays an important part in middle school martialarts teaching. Chinese martial arts can inherit and carry forward the traditional Chineseculture, and martial arts teaching is an important way to improve our national qualityand promote unity, it is also an important measure of carrying forward and cultivatingthe national spirit. So it is significant for us to pay special attention to martial artsteaching. However, in middle school, the situation of martial arts teaching is notoptimistic, the reason is that there are numerous factors hampering the development ofmartial arts, it is this reason that makes martial arts teaching met bottlenecks. In order toknow the situation and development of martial arts teaching of urban middle school inthe western Liaoning, this paper researches and analyses some middle school students,teachers, leaders, Sinkiang Municipal Sports Bureau’s leaders and martial arts experts infive cities of western Liaoning based on the methods of documentary, questionnaire,mathematical statistics, interview investigation, etc. This paper put forward sometheories of how to develop the martial arts teaching healthily in western Liaoning afteranalyzing the present condition of the martial arts teaching’s development and existingproblems.school leaders don’t pay much attention to martial arts teaching, and the martialarts course constructions that open to students are not ideal, their course constructionsare not based on the national standard; teachers’ trainings are obviously not enough, andthe teachers do not often communicate and learn from others. We are pleased thatmiddle school physical teachers’ team structure is good, this can satisfy the schoolsports development, but young teachers don’t have much experience, and the schoolslack professional martial arts teachers. The students know little about martial arts, andthe main reason is that their schools’ propagandas and practices don’t work well, whilethe best thing is that those schools have a relatively good venues and facilities.Countermeasures: the related functional department of education should superviseeach school’s martial arts teaching, and the school leaders should make sure that theywill make martial arts come into use; the schools should strengthen the construction ofthe teaching staff, at the same time, they should create more opportunities for martialarts teachers to exchange, and hire professional martial arts teachers. For the physicalclass teaching we should make some rules and carry them out with strict; according tothe characteristics of western Liaoning, we can compile special teaching materials, thento improve the development and teaching quality of middle school martial arts teachingin the north of Sinkiang. Meanwhile, we should strengthen publicity of martial arts,advocate exchange activities and competitions with other schools, so as to promote thecultural exchange and enhancing students’ friendship.
