The Athlete Selection is the one of most important aspect of elite athletes training system.The theory of the athlete selection research involves the science of human genetics and thehuman physique. With the infiltration of many disciplines, more simple and reliable indicatorsare emerging in the theory to select athlete. In recent years, the research on digit ratio hasbecome a hot issue in developmental biology, anthropology, behavioral sciences, reproductivemedicine. Digit ratios refer to ratio of the length of each digit. More researches focus on thegroup digit ratios, especially on the ratio of index finger length2D:4D. The development andformation of human fingers and toes is related to HOX gene regulation. Gene cluster inHOXA and HOXD, control the differentiation of the genitourinary system and the limbs,skeletal system. The differentiation of the embryonic reproductive system affects theconcentration of the hormone (testosterone and estradiol). Digit ratio research as one of aspectin the area of human genetics and the human physique is determined by the concentration ofthe hormone testosterone in the fetal period and is stable after birth. It can give us someinformation to judge athletic ability which can be applied in the selection of the athletes.Domestic and international studies have shown that digit ratio with regional, racial differences.The research on digit ratio and athletics aboard does not necessarily apply to our country. Theresearch in this field in domestic has just to carry out in recent years.Research purposes: In this study, by the analysis on the measurements of finger lengthand digit ratio of athletes of different levels of physical group and of different items anddegree, the digit ration feature on these athletes can be known. This research can be used forthe accumulation of data in domestic study and also be used to provide theoretical support inthe reference standard for athletes’ scientific selection.Research Methods: Measuring subjects recruited from Panlong Lake training base ofretired athletes and coaches of Beijing Sport University training base training activities, aswell as teenagers swimming in Hebei Province, Hebei Province Youth Games, of HebeiProvince TiGong Team and Hebei Normal Movement Training Department. Subjects premiseof informed consent, taking pictures with a SLR digital camera left and right hand palm.Specific operation: Glass plate plane after the front palm and10mm standard scale ruler to take pictures in the same field of vision. Measuring finger length with the image processingsoftware of IPP (Image-Pro Plus6.0) Finger length refers to the length of a finger tip to fingerat the fold line of the base near the palm of your hand. To reduce errors, the measurements ofall photos are completed by one person. Each photo repeated measurements2times, the meanvalue of the2times measured values for data processing.Research Results:①About he mean ratio of each finger of the overall physical classathletes, the female is more than male. There is significant differences between the2D:5D、3D:5D of left hand and2D:4D、2D:5D、3D:5D of right hand.②In the overall level of male athletes, the right side is more than the left side in the meanratio of the digit, except the3D:5D.2D:5D has significant differences. The right side is morethan the left side of the female athletes.2D:4D、2D:5D、3D:4D、3D:5D has differences.③Fitness class athletes have significant level differences on the digit ratio. Different levelof male and female has difference between right and left. These differences is between2D:4Dof male and2D:3D、2D:4D、2D:5D、3D:5D of female. The2D:4D of left and right side inmen and women and the3D:4D、3D:5D of right side in woman, have a negatively correlatedwith sport level of physical fitness group.④Physical type three group and exercise levels related to digit ratio is not completelyconsistent. The correlation coefficient is higher in male than in female, in the right side thanthe left side. The digit ratio is2D:4D of the three group and exercise levels. It is a negativecorrelation. In the three group, the digit ratio of endurance group and sport level is the highest.⑤2D:4D has differences in sex and side,the2D:4D of female both side were larger thanmen and the the difference of right side is significant; the2D:4D of the right side in men andwomen are larger than the left, and female have significant difference. There is a significantnegative correlation between2D:4D of Physical three groups athletes and sports level,withthe level differences is significant, the higher level of sport, the smaller the value of2D:4D,the correlation coefficient is highest between mean2D:4D of the endurance related groupathletes and exercise level.Conclusion: The digit ratio has significant sex difference of the fitness class athletes. Thefemale is bigger than male. The digit ratio has side difference. The right is more bigger thanthe left. The digit ratio has degree difference. The significant difference of digit ratio is2D:4D of male and2D:4D of female, Right is more than the left in the sport level. Male is more thanfemale in the relation of sport level. The endurance item group has the highest correlation tothe sports level. The digit ratio is2D:4D. It is significant negative relatedThe digit ratios which have significant movement class differences and significantlyassociated with the movement level are the2D:4Dcan predict the athletes’ sport ability. Thiscan be used as the reference index to select the fitness class athletes.
