Under Clan Cultures Liangshan Yi Marriage By Fruit

"Zhe Guo" means a special kind of money paid from bridegroom’s family to the bride’s family when Yi nationality in Liangshan getting married. It knows as "Pin Jin" or "Shenfen Qian", but these two Chinese words can not express the connotation of "Zhe Guo" completely. Since1980s,"Zhe Guo", which is a payment of money, gradually becomes an important element in the Yi marriage in Liangshan and it is increasingly popular in recent years. This paper, looking at "Zhe Guo" which is put in family cultural background, focusing on the affect of Yi family on the process of negotiation and payment, is based on the survey in Puxiong Town of Yuexi County in Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture. Combining cases with comprehensive statistics, it emphasized on the analysis of the influencing factors of "Zhe Guo" in marriage and obtained the following findings:first, when the families are in the same grade, there is no obvious relevance between "Zhe Guo" and family grade. Second, when families of different grade intermarried, there exists obvious affect on "Zhe Guo" from family grade. Third, no matter getting married in the same grade or not, education level (whether accepted college education) is the important factor to affect "Zhe Guo". Also, from the view of the flow and the redistribution of wealth, the paper discussed where does "Zhe Guo" from and how it would be spend. In the end, it concentrates on the influence of "Zhe Guo" on Yi society in Liangshan and great amount of "Zhe Guo" has varying degrees of affects on family regime, marriage, family, women’s social status and so on, which have positive side and negative side, either.
