Physics is a natural science requiring a high level of mathematicalknowledge."Ordinary high school physics curriculum standard" formulatedby Ministry of Education demonstrates "through the process of learningphysical concepts and rules, students should understand the study method ofphysics and the roles of physics experiments, the physical model andmathematical tool in the development of physics." At the same time, onemajor characteristic of physical science is "mathematics is the language andthe tool of learning physics." Students can not solve difficult physicsproblems if they are not able to use the tool. The course of physicsproblem-solving process itself is the use of physical principles andmathematical algorithm to solve the problem.Due to the influence of subject-specific teaching, students have formed arelatively fixed physics thinking in the process of physics learning, so in theprocess of solving physics problems, mathematics can not gush automaticallyin the brain of the students, which requires the teacher to remind andstrengthen in the form of instances. Various methods, such as extremaltrigonometric function and the variation of various relations, equation of thestraight line and circle permutation and combination of knowledge, and thesummation series, derivative and limit etc, are often used in the process ofsolving physical problems, which requires teachers to select some typicalexamples of infiltration, and let the students develop the habit of solvingphysics problems using mathematical method.The main purpose of this paper is to find out the related degree betweenphysics and mathematics and their influence degree. For students in seniorhigh school, in the transition and the beginning of the stage, which physicallearning difficulties are caused because of poor mathematical knowledge?What should teachers pay attention to at this stage of teaching? How toimprove? Based on solving these problems, mathematical knowledge and mathematical methods in physics learning in senior high school are concluded;some representative problems are selected; whether students have graspedsome common mathematical methods in physics learning in senior highschool is surveyed; two subjects score correlations are investigated betweentwo similar classes. In order to ensure the universality and comprehensivedata source, the writer chooses10classes in grade one of Inner MongoliaBayannaoer No.1middle school, a total of561people;11classes in gradetwo, a total of685people,and compares maths and physics marks from thetwo top classes in grade two.The study lasts a semester,from2012September to2013January.Through the research and practice of ability of using mathematicalknowledge to solve the physical problem, the students’ understanding ofmathematics knowledge and methods to solve the problems of high schoolphysics are what teachers have expected. But the students’ understanding isnot directly proportional to their mathematics knowledge application level.After research, the writer carefully prepares a test which can fully reflect theapplication of mathematics in physics, further consolidates practice effect,and puts forward some measures on how to strengthen applications ofmathematics knowledge and mathematics thought in physics through theresearch and practice.
