Revival Of Women's University

Women’s Higher Education is the special field of Higher Education system, as the purest Women’s Higher Education Institution, the Women’s College is significant for the development of femininity and the whole society. In foreign countries, the Women’s College has been brought into the state educational system, formed a perfect Women’s Education structure, which consists of public Women’s College、 private Women’s College、research Women’s University and small liberal arts College etc. However, in China, it is until2012that only three Women’s institutions had successful upgraded to colleges of bachelor’s degree level, which serves to show the reality of marginalized status of the Women’s College at home.Compared with foreign Women’s college which always being attached importance by the government and has the continued long-term historical accumulation, the national Women’s College has been hotly debated since the days of its birth, and its development road has being twists and hard all along. By retrospecting the history, this thesis has verified that owning to the successful transplantation of American experiences, the Women’s College had been vigorous thrived in the period of the Republic of China; By investigating the current situation, it has raised the main problems the contemporary Women’s Colleges faced; By analyzing the gender discrimination of this modern society and the "male-centered consciousness" of the higher education, it demonstrate Women’s Colleges’ unique educational compensation value、 academic value and social gender educational value, thus affirmed the necessity of reviving domestic Women’s Colleges nowadays.As the current highest level Women’s Institution, the Ginling College of Nanjing Normal University has the most profound historical background and the maximum superiority and potentiality. But it has been encountering repeatedly development bottleneck as a result of its secondary college system. Therefore, I proposed an assumption of turning Ginling College into a special university zone of women’s higher education, like the former Ginling University, which adequately drawing lessons of history and foreign experience, making reforms as a forerunner in the aspects of school ideals、running model、professional setting、teaching management、teachers and students’ relationship and the construction of female university culture, leading the innovation and advancement of all the Women’s College in China.
