I selected postgraduates as research object to explore their status of academic procrastination from the degree and the reasons of academic procrastination, specifically analyzed all the dimensions of personality traits how to influence procrastination degree. At the same time, I explored six factors of coping styles how to effect procrastination degree. I hope I could provide some advice for postgraduates and education.The present study which used random sampling method selected469effective participants, who were from the Nanjing Normal University, Hohai University, Southeast University and China Pharmaceutical University. The scales included the revised scale of Procrastination Assessment Scale-Students (PASS), the Seven-Factor Chinese Personality Scale (QZPS-SF), the Cope Scale. The study had examined the population characteristics of academic procrastination, personality traits, coping styles, and the relationships among these three variables. The results showed that:1. The indicators of reliability and validity of the revised scale of Procrastination Assessment Scale-Students (PASS) were in line with the oquirements of psychometrics.2. The procrastination of learning task was higher than postgraduates on other tasks’ procrastination. And the procrastination of writing paper was the highest.3. There was no significant difference between males and females in procrastination degree, but it existed in procrastination reasons.4. Academic procrastination had significant differences in grades. The degree and reasons of academic procrastination of the first postgraduates were significant different from the second and the third postgraduates.5. There was no significant difference among four subject categories in the degree of procrastination, but it existed in procrastination reasons.6. Three personality traits, extroversion, operating style and capability, had (?)ignificant prediction effect on the degree of academic procrastination.7. Two coping styles, solving and self-blaming, had significant prediction effect on the degree of academic procrastination. 8. Solving and rationalization had partial mediation effects on the relationship between personality traits and academic procrastination, the rest four components had no mediation effect on the relationship between personality traits and academic procrastination.
