Academic procrastination refers to a student’s act of needlessly delaying tasks to the point of experiencing subjective discomfort in the process of fulfilling a study plan or achieving the goal. Academic procrastination is affected by multiple factors, comes as an individual’s subjective choice always out of impulsiveness, and tends to give rise to bad results. Academic procrastination prevails among postgraduates. This paper investigated postgraduates of various subjects in Lanzhou University by way of questionnaire and mainly focused upon the current situations of their academic procrastination, the correlation of academic procrastination with academic anxiety and copying styles, and the moderating and mediating effects of these copying styles.The results of the research are as follows:(1)The level of postgraduates’academic procrastination as a whole is not high.79.2%of them show varying degrees of academic procrastination, which has been a common phenomenon in universities, in different academic work, with reading academic literature ranking the first and participating tasks the lowest.(2)79.7%of them show varying degrees of academic anxiety, which is of average level. The postgraduates’ academic anxiety displays differences due to grades and subjects, and is affected by the interaction between subject and gender, between subject and grade, and between subject and the original place of a student.(3)The tendency of postgraduates choosing positive copying style is higher than the average level nationwide while the tendency of postgraduates choosing negative copying style is lower than the average level nationwide. In the dimension of positive copying style, there exists difference in gender, grade and subject while in the dimension of negative copying style, there exists difference in original place of a student.(4)The level of postgraduates’ academic anxiety is largely correlated with academic procrastination. Academic anxiety has a well positive correlation with academic procrastination.(5)Postgraduates’ positive copying style is largely correlated with the expectancy of decreasing procrastination, and has a well positive predictive effect on the expectancy of decreasing procrastination. However, negative copying style is largely correlated with the level of academic procrastination, and has a well positive predictive effect on the level of academic procrastination.(6)Positive copying style has a moderating effect on the correlation between academic anxiety and the expectancy of decreasing procrastination. However, negative copying style only has a weak moderating effect.(7)Academic anxiety affects the expectancy of decreasing procrastination and the level of academic procrastination through the mediating effect of positive copying style and negative style respectively.
