History, which is a very important humanity in junior school during the elemental education, plays an important role in cultivating different aspects of the students. However, during the teaching process, it is often being regarded as one of less important subjects. Lacking of interests in history learning is common phenomenon among the students, which result in many troubles in history teaching and then greatly affects the efficiency the teaching. Albert Einstein said:"The interest is the best teacher". We also admit that learning interest is the most active and practical element which affect the learning motivation. Then we have to take measures to cultivate the interest of students in history learning.The paper tends to define "INTEREST" and explain the different types of "INTEREST", the important of cultivating history learning interest included. Authors try to investigate the present situation and the characteristics of history learning in rural school in Pingnan County basing on teaching experiences. It aims to analysis the subjective and objective factors that affect the learning interest and then find out the suitable strategies to activate the interest of students, hoping this will be helpful to my teaching in the future. At last, I hope to provide some valuable reference for the majority of middle school history teaching.
