Facing with an unprecedented crisis of aging, Chinese academia are increasingly concerned about how to develop aging resources in the meanwhile to allow the elderly to achieve self-worth. As a typical representative of the elderly, the retired university teachers who obtain relatively more social resources, are the main force of active aging.This article is based on 《Active Ageing-A Policy Framework》written by World Health Organize, using the three pillars:health, participation and security as the framework. After collecting and combing the literature on health, participation and protection, as well as universities retired teacher’s active aging at home and abroad, the article summarized the connotation of health, participation and security of universities retired teacher’s active aging. The field interviews of the university retired teachers and Retirement Department staffs helped us to get to know the university retired teachers’ health conditions (physical health conditions, cognitive functions, mental health status, social support networks, life satisfaction), participation situations (economic social participation, voluntary social participation, academic social participation, recreational social participation), security situations (national security, the security from schools, community security).On this basis, by applying the principles and methodology of Social Work, this thesis put forward corresponding countermeasures against the health, participation and security on active aging according to the implementing subject. Domestic research, especially the empirical research about retired university teachers’ active ageing problem are not too much, this study provides some practice surveys and new data for the active aging theory of the university retired teachers and makes some contributions for geriatric social work.
