Research On The Problem Of Child Abuse

Childhood is a key period for the development of one’s physical and psychological， also it is theperiod in which one’s soul is very weak and vulnerable to be hurt, so children is the weakest group thatneed our protect and help. However, due to the traditional concept of children, we often regard childrenas the personal property of parents’. Children all come from mother and belong to parents; parents cancontrol children’s life and their fate. Additionally, as the factors of parent’s grumpy character, thefragile of family structure, children’s naughty and rebellious, and so on,the child abuse is common inthe family, and affects on children’s development.This study use the method of case study, and the material comes from8abused children who wereabused by their parents, through semi-structured interviews and participant observation. The aim is tounderstand the causes of child abuse, the effects on child abuse, truth of the case, and put forwardspecific proposals.Based on the analysis of the collected information, the author draws the following conclusions:1. Child abuse by parents generally occurs in the family; the frequency of child abuse is very high,physical abuse lasts short, and emotional abuse continuous relatively long; children often choose toendure, or shiver with parents, or run away; child abuse also follow the rule of vicious spiral.2. The reasons for child abuse include the abusers and onlookers’deficiency of right concept ofchildren, parents’ characteristics and parental rearing patterns, family structure, and chidren themselves(such as naughty, bad habits, disability, etc); and according to the different motivation, it can be dividedinto "child abuse for the purpose of abreaction" and "for the purpose of education ".3. Effects of child abuse that can children can feel or observe by the researcher mainly includechildren’s physical injury, leading to children’s bad habits, negative effect on children’s study andalienation of children and parents.According to the conclusions, researcher put forward following measures to prevent and intervenethe child abuse events: the first is to spread the correct concept of children; the second is to promote theproper methods to bring up; the third is to establish system and network to protect children; the fourth isthe establishment of prevention-Report-intervention mechanism.
