Status And Enlightenment On American Yong Volunteer Service

Along with the globalization, connections between countries become closer,international events which produced more opportunities for voluntary are being heldmore and more frequently. To take part in voluntary activities has been a new trendamong the young volunteers. They would like to take part in the voluntary services.Voluntary service standard in American has been well developed, they havethorough support system, high standard organization, well-popularized volunteerspirit throughout the country, which produced a perfect model for all over the world.Compared with American, young voluntary service has improved by the rise ofcultural and living level. Though government also get started to take voluntary serviceserious, insufficiency exists. For example, volunteer spirit is not popular enough,some young volunteers want to get pay back from the service, age structure is unitary,volunteering organization and support system are not fully developed, sometimesvoluntary service will be influenced by fund shortage. Lacking in volunteer spiritcould be the most serious problem for voluntary service, the spirit should be exists inthe mind of not only individuals but also the minds of companies, the government,families and schools. Only if every aspect of the society has a high level of volunteerspirit, more young Chinese will come and take part in the voluntary service.There are altogether four parts in this paper. The first part illustrates the historyof young voluntary service in American. The second part introduces basic informationabout American young voluntary service from five different aspects, they are thecondition, motivation about participation and the mechanism on recruiting,encouraging, security. In the third part, experiences about American young voluntaryservice are summarized. We are searching for the meaning and enlightenment in thefinal part of this paper, just to find out the right way for young voluntary service inChina.
