Investigating Latec-mover Advantage Of Universities In The View Ecological System Theory

The twenty-first century is a period of fast development and fastinternationalization for higher education. Based on the background of highereducation popularization, higher education in China had both progressions andregressions. Considering the fact that Chinese higher education is relatively backward,the administrators of education institutions need to gradually reform and plan thesystems of the universities. These acts are beneficial to the future of higher educationin China and the realization of the strategy of “revitalizing China through science andeducation”. This article investigates how Chinese universities could release theirpotentials, to resolve the drawbacks of late-mover and better exert the late-moveradvantages through the theory of system science.This article mainly studies late-mover advantages of universities in the view ofecological system theory. First of all, I combine the fundamental knowledge ofecological system theory and late-mover advantage theory and construct the researchfoundation of this article after sorting out both domestic and foreign currentresearches and theories of late-mover advantage and late-mover universities;thereafter, this article also analyses the advantages and disadvantages of late-moveruniversities to sort out one by one their late-mover advantages and disadvantages, tomake strategies for exerting advantages and weakening disadvantages, and finallymake the universities develop prosperously.Firstly, this article analyses the research background and research meaning oflate-mover advantages of universities, and make general statements of theirdevelopment, advantages and specifically, late-mover advantages; Based on sortingout both domestic and foreign current situations and current researches aboutlate-mover advantages, I come up with the body and the method of this article andalso build the research foundation.Secondly, through studies of early-mover universities and related data and tables,this article deeply analyses the disadvantages of late-mover universities from theperspectives of small scale of late-mover universities, imperfect administrationmechanism, unformed common cultures, relatively low level development of majorsand subjects, unstable personnel training, weak scientific researching and socialserving capacities. Thirdly, through case studies of some typical successful late-mover universities,this article also studies the advantages of late-mover universities and conclude thatlate-mover universities have certain benefits on their small scale and exuberantvitality, building of systems being free from any old traditions, easier to changecultures or create cultures, huge potentials on specific subject-building, easier toadvance with the times on aspect of modes of personnel training and easy entry intofields of cutting-edge technologies of scientific researching and social serving.Finally, to ensure efficient development of late-mover universities, this articlepropose some feasible advises to release the potential of late-mover universities. To bemore detailed, the article propose advises on aspects such as how to createhigh-quality conditions for development, how to build modern systems of universities,how to rise levels of subjects, how to create modes of personnel training creatively,how to strengthen team-building and how to make collective creation, to implementscientific development of late-mover universities.
