The research aims to investigate the performance of number concepts of Yi students at the age of6-8and analyze the correlation of different variants, such as language, grade, gender and families, in children’s number concepts. The test of assessing the young children’s number sense in this study was adapted from the measure created by Malofeeva and colleagues (Malofeeva, Day, Saco, Young,&Ciancio,2004), and the other test of exanimation the young children’s numerosity estimation abilities was adapted in Chen and McNamee’s study (Chen,&McNamee, in press), and according to Ginsburg and Baroody’s (1990) mathematical ability test. It also had a questionnaire for parents and interviews for teachers. The objects are115Yi students in primary grades, whose average age is6.85years old, including51boys and64girls.In Part1of the thesis expounds the reasons and significance, and puts forward the stages of cognitive development and language development of children of Piaget’s theory. Research literature includes four aspects, which are the study of Yi studies, children’s number concept, cross-cultural study of children’s number concept and other related research. Put forward the deficiencies of previous studies include the research content, research level and the subjects. And the study of number concept of Yi6-8year’s old primary school children basically belongs to the blank state.In Part2, through the analysis of descriptive statistics, development characteristics of Yi students’number concepts at the age of6-8as followed:Yi6-8year-old primary school children s number concept development lag. Language transfer, quality and family school teaching situation restricted number concept restricts Yi children aged6-8years of development, with national characteristics.The third chapter analyzes the influence factors of Yi primary school lower grade children’s number concept development characteristics from three aspects of school education, school education and family education. Language concept is the most important role for Yi children’s number in three aspects. The second is to promote the role of teaching quality, teaching conditions, family education and preschool education for the concept of Yi children’s number.The fourth part analyzes the influence factors. In view of factor analysis, the author makes the following suggestions:In school, suggest using native language as elementary language and selected transitional bilingual education and maintenance bilingual teaching and promote the cooperation between home and school. Individual differences should be concerned and teachers should arouse students’interest in learning. Educational departments establish policies, pay attention to train teachers, speed up the development of preschool education, and to summarize and organize local materials or school-based courses.
