Learning adaptability refers to an initiative adjustability of study individuals to makecorresponding changes based on different study conditions so as to create for them a relative balancedinterpersonal environment, which meanwhile, helps accelerate individuals’ development of learning abilityas well. Locus of control refers to individuals’ recognition and orientation to their responsibility of the waysand results of their behavior during the interaction with ambient environment. In other words, it is themental energy of the individual to realize how to control their own life. Nowadays, there are few in-depthstudies on the relationship between students’ psychological development feature and learning adaptabilityin current education mode. Most educators focus on students’ study approaches, methods, aiming atimproving their academic achievement but failing to pay attention to their locus of control and learningadaptability. Junior high school students as adolescent are in rapid physiological and psychologicaltransition, which makes mental health education in this period of great importance. Therefore, in this thesis,the author will seek for the methods of improving middle school students’ learning adaptability byanalyzing factors such as gender, grade, school type, and (non-)singleton that affect junior high schoolstudents ’ psychological development.To analyze respectively the features of locus of control and learning adaptability as well as theirrelationship, this thesis makes questionnaire investigation on students in615junior high schools indifferent parts of Henan province and reaches the following conclusions:(1)The general learning adaptability of junior high school students are at medium level. Theirlearning ability stays, in particular, at a low level.(2)Learning adaptability of junior high school students vary among different genders, grades,school types and singleton and non-singleton.(3)Junior high school students’ locus of control shows distinct negative correlation with theirlearning adaptability. (4)Junior high school students’ locus of control can negatively predict their learningadaptability.
